👻 I suppose this month, ghosting is appropriate?

Reader, I believe the last time that I emailed you I said I'd talk to you soon.

I mean classic ghosting technique, right?

Tell you I'll call you and then disappear into the night, never to be heard from again.

The truth of the matter is, I, like most of us, was burnt the heck out. Out of ideas. Out of inspiration to write.

And so I'm ever so slowly dipping my baby toe back in the romance writing water.

And I'd love for you to join me inside the little pond I'm building.

To start, I have a whole new name and a whole new made-up sub-genre.

I'm calling it Romantasycom Lite. And this story will be written under my new pen name, Wells Darling.

I'm not cut out for big world building romantasy series. But I do love me some fantasy and I do enjoy writing comedy.

And since the holidays are quickly approaching, I decided to start with one of my favourite magical places on earth that I'm still convinced is just a tiny bit real...The North Pole.

No, this isn't going to be a book about a hot Santa.

But in my imagination, Santa and Mrs Claus aren't celibate. They likely have a few Santa Juniors running around.

And they're likely kind of hot. And kind of in the family business.

Reluctantly.

And that's where my new short story is going to begin. With the oldest son of Santa, Nicholas Frost Claus. He goes by Nick. And of course, he's grumpy. He's not interested in the family business but feels guilty about that so he takes it out on anyone and everyone.

Until she comes to town. Noel Winters. Yes, yes, I know what you're thinking. How cliche. And you're not wrong. She's obsessed with polar bears, Santa and is a research scientist trying to save the Arctic wildlife from climate change. And of course, she's starting with reindeer.

I'm starting out with this as a short story. 10,000 words. That are going to be for your eyes only for a little while. Each week I'm going to deliver you a chapter or two and you're going to give me feedback if you'd like. Like a writing partner...but neither of us is going to earn anything from this experiment LOL.

So, what do you say? Want to help me get back into writing? Is this the Christmas story you've always wanted but couldn't find LOL?

The first thing we're going to decide, regardless of your answer above, is the name of the series. If you have an idea not listed, simply hit reply to this email and let me have it!

Thanks for having me back!

Holly

PS I mean with a name like mine, how could I NOT write this series?

Last week I had a humbling experience. I signed up for an aquazumba class at my local gym and was convinced I wouldn't be the only 51 year old there and that for sure, it would be a fun and beneficial experience. I was so wrong. I brought down the average age by at least 15 years...if not more. But OMG, it was so much fun...except for dodging the creepy old man who just floated around and watched everyone. It totally reminded me of Eleanor from Influenced, and the time her mom thought...

Imagine being a romance writer going through a divorce and still having writing commitments that needed that deep, insightful and loving touch. What your books didn't need was for all the men in the book to die. Well, that's been me off and on for the past 3 years. I thought I'd give myself one year to ditch the anger but turns out a pandemic at the same time as a divorce can make it double hard to get out of the negative mindset and into the open to the idea of romance mindset. However, I'm...
